eBay explains the current process on its website as follows: "eBay will calculate and add the applicable sales tax at checkout. The buyer will pay both the cost of the item along with the sales tax. eBay will collect and remit the tax."

As of November 1st, however, eBay explained: "order totals sent for processing will reflect the gross order amount inclusive of tax. Once settled, ... Read More

eBay's former Vice President of Seller Experience Jordan Sweetnam had a message for sellers on Monday, his first since rejoining the company in July in a new role. As we reported at the time, he had spent the past 3 years at Walmart's ecommerce unit.

Since the departure of Hal Lawton 2 years ago, eBay executives have personally communicated very little with sellers on the seller announcement board. For example, September 4th's Fall Seller Update announcement was written by "Verified Blogger."

But it means sellers will have to be more careful than ever before hitting the submit button when creating a new listing.

eBay did note it would offer seller protection for late-shipment defects "that are a result of the update" - through January 1, 2020.

Here's the text of the email eBay sent to sellers:

We're updating the pre-filled handling time value ... Read More
